As sun sets
And day is about to end
Memories like chirping
Of returning birds
Fill the emptiness.
They never go far for long
From their home in warmth of gray cells
Hoping to find new lease of life
From grand children abroad
Or some old friends
I check my Inbox once again
Only to find more junk mails
Chirping is louder now
Sun may soon set
It will be quiet

Yes, I agree. This is so powerful.
Memories and messages nicely linked!
This is so wonderful and yes, I can relate.
ouch. checking mail only to find
zilch is a bummer.
well-written.
Beautiful writing. I love the concept you've woven here of the sun setting and still waiting for a heartfelt note from a friend. Nicely written.
Very nice treatment of prompt!
Hi Nana.We got ur message. We were just to careless to understand ur feelings. Will take care in future. And thank u for the wonderful poem.LOL.
This is a beautiful response to the promopt. So sad to find nothign in the in-box before the end of the day. I have a habit of checking mine many times during the day if I am expecting something special from someone special. Thanks for sharing your impressions of the prompt.
Very nice, Harshad ~~ Yes, that is the way inboxes work for us retired people. Mostly LOOKING, checking for an e-mail that we are hoping for from a loved one.
My now deceased mother-in-law was so hopeful every day when she went to the mail box, hoping for a lette from one of her children or grandchildren. Once in a while she was rewarded.
..
Those chirpings can be a comfort.
@ Sandy : Yes, in better moods. It is all in mind, isn't it? Thanks for visiting.
Oh what a poem Harshad!
I feel suddenly sad...as I am an empty nester now...all kids gone to college...but my inbox?
Made of spams and unnecessary mails. Kids can only use chat and phone calls and vice versa...:)
Powerful and intense. Well done.
powerful and sad...
