Candid (OSI prompt : Overt)

Candid

Candid

I wear costumes
Creams, fragrances
Ornaments…….
For I don’t adore
True
Look, feel & odor of
My body.

Overt candid revelation
Of self
Is dreaded
So I Wear
Lies
Lies
Lies. &
Lies.

A voice
in space within me arise :
“This body too is a lie.
I am wearing it
For a play.”

First, thanks Harshad ji for your constant and loving presence..

Loved you poem on 'Overt' prompt. well one thing... the voice from Space Within is absolutely 'Truth' manifested..and isn't that sufficient..

Wish ornamental temptations cpnsider themselves lucky to pick up the message in this lovely poem..

interesting cadence. like the twist of it being for a play. it makes the accusations of the earlier part of the poem nipped to less harsh. a kind reality check. we're all making it all up as we go.

Reminds me of the premise of the book "Presentation of Self in Everyday Life". We are all actors on a stage...

Liked this take on "overt".

Sometimes the overt costumes we wear tell part of our truth ...

wonderful thoughts - love a poem that makes me think.

peace & love,

I like this. Most of the times our costume is lies..

hugging the stones, I meditate fervently

Very good. Thank you. This is so true. We find so many ways to disguise ourselves.

And we are all just actors on this stage - love the rhythm and thoughtful process of this piece!

I hear Tennessee Williams. I hear Martha Graham. I hear speeches about lies and pithy quotes about truth.

What got me the most viscerally was the repetition of "lies, lies, lies!"

so very true- wearing so many things and masks as disguises. Your poem really makes me think!
